The Great Australian Shelf was born out of necessity when our family of five moved into a small home with limited storage. The bespoke design of our house made standard-sized bookshelves and cupboards impractical, inefficient, and costly.
Fortunately, we had access to one of Australia’s finest commercial joineries. Built by my brother over the past 40 years, this facility employs world-class practices and state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques, enabling us to create custom storage solutions that perfectly fit our needs.
Now, we bring that same quality and innovation to you, offering tailored storage solutions that blend seamlessly with any home design.
Our Process
Establish Client Needs. Together with my many years of experience and your vision, we will discuss exactly what you are seeking for your home, establishing an innovative, space saving and tailored design.
3D Proposal Drawing sent for Client Approval. After discussion, a proposed drawing will be sent to you. Drawings are in 3D so you can envision your new space.
Quote.
Site Visit. If you wish to go ahead, I will personally visit your home to take accurate measurements for your unit. Material selection and design specifications will also be finalised here.
Manufacturing.
Deliver & Install. Our team will deliver and install your unit with care and precision to fit perfectly into your space.
Our Materials
We take pride in sourcing materials that are made to last, sustainable and manufactured in Australia.
We can work in any material of your preference including , plywood, solid timber and timber veneers.
However we recommend commercial grade engineered board from Laminex or Polytech as being the material of choice, for quality and affordability
It is a far superior product than is usually used in the domestic market with an attractive finish that is scratch resistant.
The material is 25mm or 33mm thick, very robust and resists bowing even when heavily loaded.
THE factory
Located in Melbourne, the factory follows the European Fully Integrated Manufacturing Cell model, utilizing advanced German and Italian technology adapted for Australian conditions. This system offers exceptional flexibility, enabling us to design virtually any product to meet client specifications, and manufacture with unmatched precision and quality at the best possible cost.
